Algiers – The Algerian Council of Ministers, chaired by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has decided to raise the minimum wage from 20,000 dinars to 24,000 dinars and increase the unemployment benefit from 15,000 dinars to 18,000 dinars, starting from January 2026, according to a council statement reported by the Algerian Press Service yesterday, Sunday.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered the Minister of Labor to review the requirement of renewing the unemployment benefit file every six months, stressing that the Council of Ministers has set its payment for a renewable minimum period of one year.
He also ordered the Minister of Labor to submit proposals on raising retirement pensions, to be studied by the Ministry of Finance, then the Government Council, with a final decision to be made at the next Council of Ministers meeting.
