Benghazi Popular Theater hosts the World Theater Day celebration

Benghazi – The Popular Theatre in Benghazi hosted an artistic and cultural celebration. It took place on Friday evening. The event marked World Theatre Day. Artists, directors, and theatre enthusiasts attended the celebration. It highlighted the importance of theatre. It also showcased its role in cultural and artistic life.

Artist Miloud Al-Omrani spoke to the Libyan News Agency. He stated that World Theatre Day is a significant occasion for theatre practitioners. It is an annual opportunity to meet. It allows them to recall the history of this art. They also remember its humanitarian and cultural messages. Al-Omrani explained that World Theatre Day began in 1962. It is celebrated every year on March 27. Annually, an actor, writer, or director is chosen. They write a message for World Theatre Day. This message is then translated into several languages. It is read in theatres worldwide.

He added that this year’s celebration marks the 64th anniversary of the occasion. It is not only about presenting theatre performances. It also renews interest in theatre. It highlights its cultural and artistic presence. He noted that World Theatre Day celebrates theatre in all its forms. It includes various experiences and works. It is not tied to the nationality of the text, writer, or director. The occasion remains open to diverse theatrical schools and experiments.

The celebration featured speeches for the occasion. A theatrical performance was also presented. The atmosphere combined a festive mood. It also evoked the symbolism of theatre. Theatre is one of the most prominent living arts. World Theatre Day is a key cultural event. Artistic circles worldwide celebrate it. Theatre continuously expresses societal and human issues.
