High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has announced his visit to Iraq, Tunisia and Libya next September.
Contacts are underway with the authorities of the Government of National Unity (GNU), to arrange for Borrell’s visit to Tripoli, Libyan sources confirmed to the Italian Nova agency.
Borrell explained that the Afghanistan file is not the only file that worries Europe, noting that future crises in Iraq, the Sahel and West Africa represent a major challenge.
He pointed out that it may require sending military missions to protect Europeans (citizens and foreign interests), even without the support of the United States.
