Damascus – The Syrian General Authority for Land and Sea Crossings closed its border crossing with Lebanon. This closure applies to all departing travelers. The authority announced this decision today, Wednesday.
A media official at the Jdeidet Yabous crossing issued a statement. The crossing will remain open for arrivals. This applies to Syrians crossing from Lebanon.
Mazen Alloush is the Director of Relations at the General Authority for Crossings and Customs. He explained the reason for halting passenger movement. Movement through the Jdeidet Yabous crossing ceased in both directions. This followed a warning issued to the Lebanese side. The warning stressed the need for evacuation. This was due to the potential for the area to be shelled. The shelling could originate from the Zionist occupation.
