The Criminal Investigation Department’s Derna branch has uncovered the involvement of a doctor, working at one of the city’s hospitals, in the theft of medical equipment, including an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine and an echo machine.
The department explained that investigators received information about the theft of an ECG machine, and after verification, the involved doctor was identified.
With a warrant from the Public Prosecution, the doctor’s house was searched, where the stolen device and other medical equipment were found, in addition to sums of money in local and foreign currencies.
The statement indicated that all seized items have been confiscated and the Public Prosecution’s office has been notified for inspection, while investigations continue in accordance with established legal procedures.
