Egypt and Saudi Arabia have renewed their support for an intra-Libyan solution under the auspices of the United Nations during a meeting between the two countries’ foreign ministers in Riyadh.
In a joint statement released by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the two countries have affirmed the need to unify Libya’s institutions as an “important step” ahead of the long-delayed elections.
Both have also emphasized the need to” complete procedures regarding the adoption of electoral laws and executive procedures”.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia have also called for an end to foreign interventions and the exit of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya within a specific time frame.
