An EgyptAir passenger plane was forced to abandon its scheduled landing in Benghazi, Libya on Tuesday due to poor visibility, aviation officials reported.
EgyptAir flight SMR829 continually circled above Benina International Airport but was unable to complete its approach. After multiple failed attempts to land, the crew made the decision to divert to Athens International Airport in Greece.
None of the aircraft’s 37 passengers were injured due to the diversion. EgyptAir stated that flight SMR829 will be rescheduled to Benghazi when weather conditions improve.
