The Libyan Government appointed by the Parliament is preparing to hold the African-European conference on irregular migration at the end of May in Benghazi.
Abdul Hadi Al-Hawaij, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was briefed on the latest developments and preparations for holding the upcoming conference on migration.
Last January, the participants in the African Conference on irregular migration in the “Benghazi Declaration” refused to play the role of “policeman” for the European continent.
They called for an urgent African summit to be held to develop a unified strategy regarding the issue of irregular migrants, and the necessity of reaching a new agreement with European countries regarding migrants.
This conference is scheduled to be held under the slogan: “Sustainable solutions for migration.”
