Traghen – A fire broke out at the sewage treatment plant in the city of Traghen, causing severe damage that has hindered ongoing maintenance work for its rehabilitation.
The director of the media office of the Traghen municipality, Ali Bawah, said in a statement to the Libyan News Agency that the fire damaged the discharge pipes and put the emergency generator out of service. He described the losses as significant, especially since the plant had undergone cleaning and reconditioning of its main reservoir in recent months, which had been out of service for years.
Bawah added that the competent authorities have begun assessing the damage and developing urgent plans to restart the plant, stressing its vital importance in providing sewage services to the city’s residents and ensuring environmental stability in the area.
