Khaled Al-Mishri, chairman of the High Council of State, has described amendment to paragraph 12 of Article 30 of the constitutional declaration as “flawed” because it lacks time limitation.
Speaking before the council in an open session on Wednesday, Al-Mishri emphasized that his council’s goal is to “communicate with the House of Representatives in order to reach transparent and fair elections.”
However, he explained that the constitutional declaration does not specify an alternative path if the council and the parliament did not come to an agreement on a legal framework for the elections.
Al-Mishri explained that he communicated his concern to the parliament and requested the removal of other articles of the declaration which he views to be problematic such as Article 7.
