Libyan Prime Minister-designate, Fathi Bashagha, has said that it is “too early” to talk about running for the presidential elections in Libya. These elections are expected to take place if the House of Representatives and the High Council of State reach an agreement on the election laws.
“This is too early and everything depends on the circumstances and developments that I will take into consideration, the most important of which is supporting the electoral process and the democratic choice in my country, whether through candidacy or contributing to its success from abroad, in an interview with the Russian agency, Sputnik, Bashagha said.
In December 2021, Bashagha officially submitted his candidacy for the presidential elections, which were scheduled to take place on December 24 of the same year, before they were canceled because of what the Electoral Commission described as “force majeure”.
