The Minister of Oil in the Government of Unity, Khalifa Abdul Sadiq, held a high-level meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, and the CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engineer Bayo Ojulari.
Discussing a Strategic ProjectThe meeting addressed the reactivation of the natural gas pipeline project extending from Nigeria to Europe through Libyan territory. An agreement was reached to facilitate the exchange of information between the two countries’ energy experts, in preparation for conducting the necessary detailed studies, leading to the signing of a memorandum of understanding that will define the project’s operational framework.
Regional and International ImportanceThis pipeline is viewed as a new strategic artery connecting Africa with the European continent, enhancing Libya’s position as a pivotal energy corridor and opening broader prospects for Nigeria to expand its gas exports to global markets.
