Sebha – The Sebha branch of the Drug and Psychotropic Substances Control Agency announced an arrest. They apprehended a Libyan and an Algerian national on Thursday. Both were involved in cocaine trafficking in Sebha.
The agency’s security media office provided details on the operation. The arrests followed intelligence information. It indicated an Algerian national was importing cocaine. He was offering it for sale at 100,000 dinars per kilogram.
Detectives set up a meticulous ambush for the Algerian suspect. He was caught red-handed. He had two kilograms of cocaine in his possession.
During initial investigations, the Algerian suspect confessed. He admitted a Libyan national was also involved. The Libyan was participating in the promotion and sale of cocaine.
Authorities coordinated with the Public Prosecution. Female personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department assisted. They raided the location of the second Libyan suspect. He was also apprehended. Seven kilograms of cocaine were found with him.
The suspects and seized drugs were transferred to the branch headquarters. This is for completing legal procedures. They will then be referred to specialized authorities.
