Libyan former Health minister, Saad Aqoub, presented his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, at the Presidential Palace in the capital, Lisbon.
The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Aqoub assured the Portuguese president of the desire of the Libya to support the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and to enhance cooperation in various fields.
It added that the President of Portugal, on the other hand, expressed his happiness with this meeting and raising the diplomatic representation to this high level.
The Ministry said the President expressed his interest and follow-up on the developments of the situation in Libya and the desire and readiness of the Republic of Portugal to support all international efforts aimed at Libya’s political stability, progress and prosperity of its people.
