Spokesman of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, said that the statement issued by the Defense Minister of the Libyan new government, Hamid Houma, regarding the integration of the “revolutionaries” into the Libyan army and the unification of its ranks, represents a statement of reassurance to clarify some of the next steps to be taken by the Ministry of Defense.
Al-Mismari made it clear, in statements to the Egyptian website Cairo 24, that the ‘revolutionaries” mentioned in the statement mean the non-ideological militias, provided that they do not carry any extremist or takfiri ideology and are not affiliated with ISIS or al-Qaeda terrorists.
He continued: “The process of integration into the armed forces comes within the framework of a comprehensive plan to address the militia issue, stressing that this comes in accordance with the conditions of work in the Libyan armed forces, through the Military Recruitment Committee in the regions individually, that the militias are dismantled and individually integrated into the Libyan Army”.
