President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, called on the African Union to support the mechanism for removing mercenaries and foreign forces from Libyan territory.
In a speech before the 35th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, al-Menfi said the Presidential Council looks forward to the African Union’s support for the mechanism and plans to remove all mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya.
Al-Menfi also called on the African Union summit to call for non-interference in the internal Libyan affairs, pointing out that this intervention led to a further complication of the crisis.
He said that a High Commission for National Reconciliation was established during the past months, with the aim of holding a comprehensive conference of the Libyan people, aimed at achieving comprehensive national reconciliation and achieving sustainable stability.
He added, “We look forward to the African Union, through its high-level committee, to provide support for the convening of the reconciliation conference in Libya, and to benefit from similar African experiences.”
