The so-called Misurata Coordination Committee of National Events denounced on Sunday the decision of the European Union ambassador, Nicola Orlando, to meet with the Misrata Council of Elders during his visit to the city.
“It is offensive that the Misrata Council of Elders has been transformed into a political institution that meets with delegations and ambassadors as if it were a political party affiliated with [Prime Minister] Dbeibeh,” the committee said.
The committee also accused Dbeibeh, of using “weapons and money” for its own political interests, expressing concern over “international silence”. It claimed that the government’s actions have “caused deteriorating living conditions and economic inflation”.
