Abdullah Senussi’s lawyer, Ahmed Nashad, stated a verdict of acquittal represents the truth. He said his client bears no criminal responsibility for the February events. Nashad considers the ruling a badge of national honor for Senussi. He views it as a testament to Senussi’s defense of his homeland.
In exclusive statements to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Nashad rejected any new accusations directed at his client. This follows Senussi’s acquittal from suppressing February protestors.
Nashad noted the Public Prosecution could still appeal the verdict. However, he affirmed that an appeal would not hinder his client’s release. He expressed hope for Senussi’s swift release.
