The Libyan Oil Minister, Mohamed Oun, confirmed that the Ministry is the official authority supervising the oil sector and its work in accordance with laws and resolutions regulating the sector.
This came during a meeting between the Minister and the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Production Affairs, Rifaat al-Abbar, at Oun’s office in Tripoli, according to the Ministry’s Media Center.
They discussed activities of oil companies, and the progress of their operations in various locations, fields and oil ports, the Media Center said in a statement on Sunday.
Oun and Abbar also discussed progress of production process and the challenges it faces from time to time and ways to overcome them, the statement pointed out.
They reviewed strategic plans of the Oil Ministry to increase production rates to support the national economy, and to provide an appropriate and safe work environment for workers in the oil sector, it added.
It is noteworthy that Oun had issued a decree on Oct 14 suspending the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sanalla, from work and referring him to administrative investigation “for violations”.
