The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced that 32,425 migrants were rescued or intercepted at sea in 2021 and returned to Libya.
IOM said 655 migrants died and 897 gone missing on the Central Mediterranean route between January 1 and December 25, 2021.
The returned migrants included 28,528 men, 2,428 women, 877 minor males, 431 minor females, and 161 migrants with no available gender data, according to the organization.
