Libya has received a convoy of hundred tourists of different European nationalities, who entered the country through Wazin border crossing with Tunisia, after about 10 years of tourism activities hiatus in the North African country.
The visit of the tourist group came within the framework of cooperation between the public and private sectors to revive tourism, after stagnating the sector for a decade due to the security situation, Libyan Ministry of Tourism said in a statement on Monday.
There is cooperation to bring in more delegations next December, the ministry quoted private-sector official participating in organizing the visit.
The tourist group arrived on Tuesday in the city of Ghadames, at the beginning of a tour that includes several tourist destinations and attractions in the Libyan desert, the Ministry said in another statement today.
After entering the country, on Monday, the tourist group is scheduled to visit several places, including the capital Tripoli, the city of Sabratha, and some other cities and tourist attractions.
