The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, convened on Thursday an extraordinary meeting with outgoing prime minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh and other top security officials amid growing military tensions in Tripoli.
According to a brief statement by the council, the officials discussed “the latest developments in the security and military situation throughout the country.”
This week, both the U.N. Support Mission in Libya and the U.S. State Department raised concerns over renewed threats of violent confrontation in Tripoli as mobilization of forces continue in the capital.
