An official security source in the El-Feel oilfield, located in the Murzuq basin, confirmed the the oil site is still open and that the production proceeds regularly, despite the protests that led to the closure of the nearby Sharara fiel in Ubari, reports Italian news agency Nova.
The same source, however, did not rule out that the demonstrators could arrive later at the oil field managed by Mellitah Oil and Gas, a joint venture between the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Eni.
In this regard, the security official clarified that there is no order to prevent or stop the entry of the protesters.
The El-Feel site extracts, when fully operational, around 70 thousand barrels of Bu Attifel quality oil, low in sulfur and very easy to refine.
