Islamabad – Reuters, citing a Pakistani source, reported that face-to-face talks took place between U.S. and Iranian officials. The American delegation included Steve Witkoff, J.D. Vance, and Jared Kushner. The Iranian officials were Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Abbas Araghchi. General Asim Munir, the head of the Pakistani army, also attended the meeting.
The Axios website previously stated there were no signs of direct talks between the United States and Iran. Both sides had continued to exchange messages through indirect channels.
However, U.S. officials confirmed that the discussions in Islamabad have already begun. Two U.S. officials told CBS News that the talks are underway. It remains unclear exactly when they started or if they involve direct contact between all parties.
