The Libyan Parliament has issued a decree considering the agreement concluded between Libya and the United States in 2008 as a final settlement of the Lockerbie case from a civil and criminal point of view.

Libyan Parliament Spokesman Abdulla Bleihiq said the Parliament session Monday in Benghazi ended with the immunization and prevention of future extradition of any Libyan citizen by any party.
The Libyan Justice Minister, Khaled Masoud, said Fathi Bashagha’s government is to form a team of lawyers to defend Abu Agila al-Marimi, who was extradited to the United States for alleged involvement in the 1988-Lockerbie bombing.
Member of the Tripoli-based High Council of State (HCS), Saad bin Shrada, confirmed that “handing over the Libyan national Abu Agila al-Mariami to U.S. may be a prelude to handing over others.”
