UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, revealed a plan to conduct security dialogues to prepare the atmosphere for the presidential elections, saying: “The Libyan parties will be asked to negotiate directly or through their representatives through a high-level committee, and the 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC) will conduct the “security dialogues to prepare the atmosphere for the presidential elections.” 

UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, confirmed Saturday the possibility of creating a clear roadmap for the Libyan elections by mid-June, pointing out that the dispute still exists over the conditions for running for the presidential elections, despite the announcement by the Speakers of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the High Council of State (HCS) about reaching an agreement on the constitutional declaration.

The Libyan outgoing Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Dbeiebh, received Wednesday afternoon the US envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, and Chargé d’Affairs at the US Embassy, Leslie Ordman, to discuss national and international efforts to hold elections in Libya this year, according to Dbeibeh’s government.

UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, stressed the importance of the role played by the Libyan Presidential Council (LPC) in creating a state of consensus between the local parties as a neutral body that stands at the same distance from all parties, according to LPC Media Office.
