The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Ali Al-Hibri, stated that 50% of the cash reserve has been spent since 2011 due to wars, political conflicts and the government deficit in the general budget.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, told reporters on Friday that that his Special Adviser to Libya, Stephanie Williams, is conducting all forms communications and mediation in the hope of creating the conditions for the country to hold elections in the first quarter of this year.
“Promoting dialogue between all actors in Libya is a necessary for building an effective political roadmap that preserves stability and unity and leads to elections in the near period,” said Luis Miguel Bueno, the European Union’s spokesperson for the Middle East and North Africa.
The new political road map being studied by Libya’s House of Representatives is a “distraction” created by the political elites in the country who wants to waste time and make elections impossible, a Libyan analyst said.
