United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced today the appointment of Stephanie Williams of the United States as his Special Adviser on Libya, replacing Jan Kubis who resigned a few weeks ago for health reasons.
Diplomats said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is mulling the prospect of appointing the US diplomat, Stepanie Williams, as a special envoy for UN to Libya, after UN’s outgoing envoy, Jan Kubis, resigned from his job, according to Foreign Policy.

Stephanie Williams, the former United Nations’ acting Libya envoy and US diplomat, hailed the reopening of the coastal road between Sirte and Misurata, which links eastern and western Libya, as announced by the Joint Military Commission 5+5 formed by representatives of the Libyan National Army and armed groups from western Libya.
