Counselor of the US State Department Derek Chollet will travel to the United Arab Emirates, January 8-10, where he will hold bilateral engagements with key Emirati officials on the latest regional and global developments, including Libya, according to US State Department.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Barbara Leaf and Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangouh discussed “the urgent need for Libyan leaders to agree on a path to hold elections without delay, working with UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and UN Special Representative, Abdoulaye Bathily, according to U.S. State Department.
U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) affirmed on Thursday that “a political solution, not a military one, is the way forward for Libya.”
