AGADIR – Defense representatives of Libya and the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) have discussed removing foreign fighters and unifying military institutions in the country, according to statement by AFICOM on Monday
U.S. General Stephen Townsend met with a number of Libyan government representatives, including the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, General Mohamad al-Haddad, on n the margins of Exercise African Lion 21 in Morocco.
“During their meeting, Townsend and Haddad discussed the need for foreign forces to withdraw from Libya immediately,” reads the statement from AFRICOM. “Townsend and Haddad also discussed ongoing efforts to unify Libyan military institutions, and opportunities for greater military cooperation with the United States.”
