U.S. Ambassador and special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland said he and National Oil Corporation Chairman, Mustafa Sanalla, discussed in Tripoli “the critical importance to Libya and the global economy of restoring Libyan oil production immediately.”
“As temperatures soar, electricity blackouts grow, prices rises and oil infrastructure corrodes, there is no excuse for those claiming that the oil shutdown is in the interests of Libya’s people,” US Embassy in Libya quoted Norland.
“Efforts are underway with international support to establish a Libyan-led mechanism to provide transparency regarding how oil revenues are spent – oil production should be restored and this mechanism should be given a chance to work,” he added.
