The Interior Ministry in Tripoli has announced the interception of 278 migrants of various nationalities in two separate operations, who were handed over to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency.
The Ministry said in a statement that the first operation was carried out by a patrol of the General Administration of Coastal Security, during which 199 migrants were arrested, who were on board a rickety boat within Libyan territorial waters.
The second operation was carried out by members of the Mellitah Coast Guard and Port Security Point on Thursday, during which 79 migrants were arrested from the sea after they had been stranded for two days.
