Abdelhamid Al-Safi is the special advisor to the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He said Speaker Aguila Saleh’s visit to Greece with his delegation was based on an official invitation. The invitation came from the Speaker of the Greek Parliament.
In a statement to “Al-Masar” TV, Al-Safi noted the talks covered political and economic files. These files are of mutual interest to both nations. An agreement was reached to form a joint parliamentary friendship committee.
He also pointed out that Speaker Saleh met with the Greek Foreign Minister. They discussed executive and diplomatic cooperation. They agreed to exchange multiple official visits in the coming period.
Saleh provided a comprehensive explanation of Libya’s political situation. This occurred during a series of meetings with Greek leaders. The meetings stressed the necessity of holding presidential and parliamentary elections. This is seen as the fundamental solution to the current political crisis.
