Ahmed Al-Attar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the prominent Egyptian construction firm The Arab Contractors Company, announced that his company has signed an agreement to build two key bridges in the Libyan city of Derna. The bridge projects are part of wider reconstruction efforts aimed at revitalizing infrastructure across Derna after devastating floods.
The first bridge contracted will span the Marqas Valley on the western side of Derna, providing a critical crossing point that connects neighborhoods in that region of the city. The second bridge will traverse the Makhbul Valley to the east of Derna, giving residents in outlying communities access across the valley to central areas.
Engineer Belqassem Khalifa, Chairman of Derna’s Reconstruction Fund overseeing rebuilding projects, emphasized the need to complete both bridges rapidly and with maximum quality.
