London – The British government announced a significant allocation. It committed 27 million pounds (about 37.2 million dollars) on Wednesday. This funding supports a national program. The program offers free AI training to employees and adults nationwide.
The Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Technology issued a statement. It confirmed the program’s initial goal. The aim is to train at least ten million people. Training will cover AI fundamentals. It will also focus on practical AI application. This effort involves leading British institutions. Major entities are also participating. The National Health Service, employing tens of thousands, is one key partner.
The ministry clarified the government’s objective. It seeks to ensure the British workforce benefits. This applies to the transformations driven by AI. A new joint government unit has been launched. Its role is to advise on AI’s impact. This includes effects on the economy and job market.
The statement revealed a study published Wednesday. It showed only 21% of UK workers feel confident. This confidence relates to using AI in the workplace. AI adoption levels remain low. Only one in six British companies currently uses these technologies. Micro-businesses are 45% less likely to adopt AI. This is compared to larger companies.
