Tunis – The High National Elections Commission is taking part in a regional consultative meeting on institutionalizing volunteer work in the electoral field. The event began today in the Tunisian capital and will run from June 8 to 10, 2026.
Representatives from Arab electoral bodies and administrations, as well as several regional and international organizations involved in electoral affairs, are attending the meeting.
The meeting is organized through cooperation among the Independent High Authority for Elections in Tunisia, the Arab Organization for Electoral Administrations, its Arab Youth Election Network, and the United Nations Development Program. Its aim is to share experiences and strengthen frameworks for volunteer work in elections, supporting civic participation and engaging youth.
The commission is represented at the meeting by Chairman Emad Al-Sayeh and Commission Member Abdelhakim Al-Shayab. Both are participating in consultative and dialogue sessions that discuss enhancing the institutional and organizational foundations for volunteer work in the electoral sector.
Sessions will review the experiences of Arab countries in attracting and training volunteers, best practices for youth engagement in electoral activities, and the role of volunteerism in supporting electoral administrations.
The commission’s participation is part of ongoing efforts to boost cooperation with Arab electoral institutions and exchange expertise to support the development of election processes and promote participation and transparency.
