Head of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh, received Wednesday the French Special Envoy, Paul Soler, and the French ambassador to Libya, Mustafa Maharaj.
The two parties discussed developments of the political situation in Libya and neighboring countries, in addition to the election file, according to GNU’s Hakomitna media platform.
Dbeibeh stressed the need to hold elections as soon as possible according to fair and impartial laws, welcoming what was stated in the briefing of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, to the Security Council, and his affirmation of the importance of ending the transitional periods in Libya, the platform said in a statement.
For his part, the French envoy expressed his country’s support for GNU and the steps it is taking regarding holding elections as soon as possible, it added.
