Benghazi – Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, said that the University of Benghazi stands as a beacon of knowledge and a symbol of the Libyan people’s ability to rise again. His remarks came on the occasion of the university’s reopening following completion of construction and development work.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Haftar said the reopening demonstrates Libyans’ ability to transform the aftermath of war into development, sacrifices into a better future, and security victories into achievements in education and reconstruction.
He praised the efforts of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, as well as the engineers, technicians, and workers who contributed to restoring the university to its academic standing.
Haftar stressed that the reopening is about more than new buildings. He said it reflects the importance of building a strong state with robust institutions, security for its citizens, and prosperity through knowledge and development.
He also paid tribute to the martyrs of the armed forces and the nation. He emphasized that honoring their sacrifices means continuing to build institutions and extend development across all Libyan cities and regions.
