The European Union’s Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, held talks on Monday with U.N. Envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, in Tripoli.
During the meeting, Orlando confirmed “the EU’s determined support for his mediation to move beyond the fragile and divided status quo through an inclusive political agreement between key stakeholders to take the country to national elections.”
“We agreed on the urgency of redoubling efforts to break the political stalemate and allow citizens to choose their own leadership and restore legitimacy to all institutions, thus preserving stability, the unity and sovereignty of the country,” Orlando said via X.
