Benghazi – The Director General of the Exhibitions and Conferences Department at the General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, Fouad Al-Awam, confirmed that the Authority continues to perform its supervisory and regulatory duties by monitoring and sponsoring a series of international and national exhibitions held in the city of Benghazi during this September.
In a statement to the Libyan News Agency, Al-Awam explained that holding any activity or exhibition within Libya requires official registration with the Authority, specifying the location, and obtaining a special operating permit, in order to ensure institutional discipline and activate oversight in accordance with the legislation regulating the sector.
He pointed out that the city of Benghazi is witnessing a remarkable transformation from a phase of reconstruction to one of economic development, by hosting a number of specialized international exhibitions, most notably the second edition of the Libya Motor Show and the second edition of the Benghazi International Construction Exhibition.
The Authority is also monitoring preparations for the seventh International Forum and Exhibition for Education and Training on September 20, in addition to the MENA Food Exhibition scheduled to launch on the 22nd of the same month, in a context that reflects economic openness and enhances Libya’s position as a promising investment destination.
Al-Awam stated that through these events, the Authority aims to benefit from international experiences and expand the horizons of trade exchange, contributing to attracting investors and transforming Libya into a productive country that supports its economy through partnerships and the development of the private sector.
Al-Awam affirmed the Authority’s continued performance of its supervisory and regulatory role over all exhibitions and conferences within Libya, stressing full compliance with the applicable laws and regulations, and taking deterrent legal measures against violators, which may go as far as striking companies from the commercial register to protect the national economic interest.
