Germany’s special envoy to Libya, Christian Buck, arrived in Tripoli today where he met with the chairman of the country’s High National Election Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh.
According to a statement by HNEC, Al-Sayeh briefed Buck on “the level of readiness of the Commission to implement the municipal council elections scheduled to be held in 2024.”
Buck reportedly expressed “the German government’s appreciation for the Commission’s efforts to hold the elections in accordance with the highest standards applicable in the world, and reiterated its readiness to provide technical and advisory support, which enhances the Commission’s readiness to implement the expected entitlements.”
