Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Affairs reviews irregular migration file and related measures

Tripoli – A high-level meeting was held this morning, chaired by Mohamed bin Ghalboun, GNU Minister of State for Prime Minister and Cabinet Affairs, in coordination with Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Imad Trabelsi. The meeting focused on following up on irregular migration and reviewing current procedures in place.

Attendees included Maj. Gen. Youssef Murad, Head of the Passports and Nationality Authority; Maj. Gen. Abdelwahid Abdelssamad, Director of the Interior Minister’s office; and Khalifa Chaliq, Director of Inspection and Oversight at the Cabinet Office.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen coordination among the relevant agencies to better control and organize migration issues. Officials reviewed the implementation of legal measures concerning irregular migrants to ensure full enforcement of the law and to maintain security and stability.

Participants also examined the technical and administrative requirements needed to improve field operations. They assessed the status of migrant detention centers and the procedures being applied to deal with violators in accordance with established legal frameworks.

The meeting underscored the importance of continuing comprehensive and organized government efforts to address irregular migration. Attendees stressed that this will reinforce state sovereignty and support specialized authorities in fulfilling their mandates according to national laws and relevant international agreements.
