Benghazi, Libya – On Wednesday, General Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan National Army, met with an Italian government delegation headed by General Gennaro Vecchione at the LNA headquarters in Benghazi. The meeting focused on the aftermath of the recent storm disaster in the city of Derna and areas of the Green Mountains in eastern Libya.
During the meeting, Haftar praised the ongoing efforts and support of the Italian government for the affected areas, including the deployment of rescue teams, humanitarian aid, technical equipment, medical assistance and logistical support.
The Libyan National Army’s media office reported that Haftar and Vecchione discussed the latest developments regarding the storm’s impact and Italy’s assistance to date in the recovery efforts. The meeting comes as Libya continues to deal with the widespread damage and flooding caused by the severe weather last week.
