The General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, said that the political track “has been given more opportunities than it should, without any signs of consensual solutions appearing on the horizon that would end in a just peace settlement and move towards achieving political stability”.
This came in a speech, during his attendance at naval military exercises within the mobilization project “Dignity Shield” 2024 for the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, which was held in the city of Sirte.
He added that “the scope for granting opportunities has become narrow.” He continued: “We are ready and will not hesitate to issue bold decisions and orders to confront anyone who would tamper with the fate of the country.”
Haftar said that the “Libyan army,” which was “in danger of annihilation,” had “recovered life again,” adding, “We are ready and will not hesitate to issue bold decisions and orders to confront everything that would tamper with the country’s fate or endanger the nation’s safety.”
He added, “Civilized countries do not build their armies to conquer other armies, destroy their capabilities, and plunder their resources, nor for their army to turn against them and practice oppression, tyranny, injustice, and persecution, but rather to fortify themselves, protect their borders, strengthen their sovereignty, and impose their will on their lands.”
He continued: “We assure all Libyans of a truth that is not lost on them, and no mufti can distort it… that the national army is the army of the entire Libyan people, which does not differentiate between one city and another or one tribe and another.”
He said, “The army will always remain biased to the will of the people… and it is at its disposal and ready at all times to take the necessary measures without anyone’s permission to ensure the safety of the nation and preserve the stability of the country.”
He considered that the current tactical military exercises come within the framework of “complementing defense preparations to confirm and prepare for any emergency that threatens the security and stability of Libya from inside and outside.”
“Weapons in Libya remain out of reach unless all foreign forces and mercenaries leave our lands without procrastination or conditions. If the world is keen on peace in Libya, one of its duties is to place these legitimate demands at the top of its priorities and impose them by all means before events and repercussions develop.” What destabilizes the entire region.”
The army leader stressed that “Libya’s safety depends on achieving a breakthrough in the political track, in which some parties involved deliberately create obstacles and flimsy arguments to remain blocked and the situation to continue as it is in order to preserve their own gains.”
He also considered that “this path has been given more opportunities than it should, without any signs of consensual solutions appearing on the horizon that end with a just peace settlement and move towards achieving political stability.”
“We give good news to the obstructionists that they will not succeed, that the scope for granting opportunities has become narrow, that patience is running out, and that they must reconsider their calculations before events surprise them with something they do not desire or expect.”
