Handover of Bartama-Al-Shuwairif Road Project Site to Contractor Marks Start of Construction Work

Sirt – The National Development Agency has approved design plans for the Bartama–Al-Shuwairif road project, which will span 140 kilometers. Officials signed a site handover document with the company contracted to carry out the work, marking the official start of the project.

According to the agency, the head of the strategic projects department met with members of the technical committee and representatives from the contractor. During the meeting, they completed technical and administrative procedures for the project.

The meeting included the review and approval of road maps and design plans, as well as the formal handover of the project site to the contractor. This clears the way for construction to begin according to the approved plans.

The agency emphasized that the contractor must use modified bitumen in the paving layers, and prepare asphalt mixtures and foundational layers to meet established technical standards. These requirements are intended to withstand expected traffic loads and high temperatures.

The agency said these measures aim to ensure the project meets the highest standards of quality and durability, ultimately extending the lifespan of the road.

The Bartama–Al-Shuwairif road is part of a series of strategic projects overseen by the National Development Agency. The initiative aims to improve the road network in southern Libya, facilitate transportation and goods movement, support economic and urban development, and strengthen infrastructure integration across the region.
