Italy’s Special Envoy to Libya, Nicola Orlando, held a “fruitful and open discussion” on Wednesday with his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Abdel-Meguid and Cairo’s Assistant Foreign Minister for the Middle East Mohamed Sarwat Selim.
According to a statement by Orlando via Twitter, the diplomats particularly discussed “the Libyan political and security process”.
“I confirmed strong support for elections and the Libyan-led, UN-facilitated process,” he said. “We agreed to continue coordinating closely.”
