An Italian medical team has begun performing scoliosis surgeries on muscular dystrophy patients at the Misurata medical center in Libya.
This was reported by the Libyan Authority for the support and development of therapeutic services on its official Facebook page.
“These operations are being conducted for the second time at the Misurata Medical Center, as part of the ‘Return to Life’ plan of the Government of National Unity,” said the post.
Libya suffers from serious backwardness in the health sector. In fact, many patients usually travel abroad to receive treatment, despite an annual budget for the healthcare sector estimated at around one billion euros.
