Al-Bayda – The national cross-country championship for students began this Thursday morning in Al-Bayda. It was organized by the School Activity Department of the Libyan Ministry of Education. The Ministry sponsored the event. The Military Sports Federation provided support. Al-Shoryan Paints Company, the Athletics Sub-Federation, and the Al-Bayda School Activity Office also contributed. This aligns with the current academic year’s school activity plan.
The Minister of Education attended the championship. Mayors of Al-Bayda and Al-Arban municipalities were present. The director of the Ministry’s School Activity Department also attended. Directors of municipal school activity offices were there. Competitions took place in a forest north of Al-Bayda. 180 students from various regions participated. They represented primary, preparatory, and secondary education levels. Students competed for top positions in individual and team categories.
The championship honored students who secured top places. They received encouraging gifts. The Minister of Education also honored the entities contributing to the competition’s success. This highlighted the crucial partnership between the Ministry and supporting institutions. This partnership ensures successful school sports activities.
Individual championship results were as follows. Primary level: 1st: Al-Mu’tasim Billah Omar Abdulnabi (Western Region C). 2nd: Abdulsalam Salem Al-Kilani (Western Region C). 3rd: Eastern Region A. Preparatory level: 1st: Ahmed Mohammed Al-Kilani (Western Region A). 2nd: Abdulkarim Abdulbaset Ahmed (Western Region C). 3rd: Ahmed Yousef Hammala (Western Region B). Secondary level: 1st: Abdulrahman Ashour Swaissi (Western Region A). 2nd: Muhab Abdulrazzaq Al-Tajouri (Western Region B). 3rd: Islam Mohammed Bouras (Central Region B). For team results, Western Region (C) secured first place in both primary and secondary levels. Western Region (C) also topped the preparatory level. The Southern Region and Western Region (A) followed in second and third places respectively.
This championship is part of the School Activity Department’s efforts. It aims to enhance sports and cultural activities among students. It also encourages their active participation in school events. This contributes to honing their athletic skills. It prepares them to represent Libya in Arab, regional, and international school championships.
