Benghazi – The third conference on therapeutic nutrition and food science commenced today, Saturday. It took place at the Benghazi Medical Center. Doctors and specialists from various Libyan cities attended. Several sponsoring companies also participated. The conference is scheduled to last for two days.
Dr. Khalid Al-Jazwi officially opened the conference. He serves as the Director-General of Benghazi Medical Center and the conference president. Benghazi University, the International University, the Scientific Research Authority, and the High National Elections Commission sponsored the event. House of Representatives members Ibrahim Azghaid and Jalal Al-Shuwaidi also attended.
Al-Jazwi clarified the conference’s theme. The slogan is “The Role of Therapeutic Nutrition, its Applications, and Food Science in Disease Prevention and Treatment Contribution.” The conference aims to enhance scientific research. It also seeks to facilitate expertise exchange in therapeutic nutrition and food science.
Al-Jazwi stated the conference is organized collaboratively. The Faculty of Medicine at Benghazi University is a key partner. Several specialized scientific associations also contribute. The event brings together leading doctors, consultants, and researchers. Participants hail from both Libya and abroad. They will discuss the latest advancements. The conference will highlight nutrition’s role in preventing diseases. It will also focus on enhancing healthcare quality.
Mohammed Abdul Aziz, a scientific committee member, outlined the conference’s various themes. These include raising community awareness about therapeutic nutrition for chronic diseases. Other topics cover nutrition in intensive care and surgeries. Pediatric nutrition is also a key area. Continuous medical training will be discussed. Food technology and food sciences are additionally part of the agenda.
Doctors and specialists from several Libyan cities attended the conference. These cities included Tripoli, Nalut, Al-Bayda, Benghazi, and Ajdabiya. They presented scientific papers and research. Their contributions covered various subjects related to therapeutic nutrition and food science.
Dr. Faraj Al-Shaari, a Faculty of Medicine faculty member and Therapeutic Nutrition Association member, highlighted the conference’s importance. He stated it offers a crucial opportunity to showcase the latest studies in this field. This includes research on combating obesity and diabetes. Nutrition for chronic diseases is also a key area. He emphasized the necessity of supporting scientific conferences. Such support helps transform research ideas into practical applications that benefit society.
