The Misrata Lawmakers Bloc discussed the latest developments and demands of protests in the city with Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour on Saturday.
Supreme State Council member and coordinator of the Misrata lawmakers bloc, Abu Al-Qasim Qazit, said that the meeting addressed protest demands directed at some security bodies and how to maintain peace, security, rights, and freedoms under the law.
Meeting Addresses Misrata Security Matters
Qazit explained that the meeting discussed the need for the Security Directorate to carry out its mandated tasks and be the supervisor of police and security work in the city. It also continued coordination on communicating with parties to the crisis facing security bodies so that all problems can be resolved within the framework of the rule of law, rights and justice, he added.
Misrata Blocs Convene
Last Thursday, the Misrata Lawmakers Bloc met with the council of elders to discuss developments in the political protest movement, the performance of security bodies, stability, and public freedoms in the city.
Qazit then said the meeting had addressed concerns regarding security bodies at the level of “their powers, structure and affiliations,” and how to develop their work to maintain security and stability without infringing on public rights and freedoms.
